My 1965 Mustang has a 3 speed manual transmission (unsynchronized 1st gear). My question is about a clanking noise emanating from the Trans while 1st gear is engaged and the car is accelerating. The clanking sound speeds up as the car speeds up. It doesn't seem to be interfering with drive-ability or shifting. What could be causing this?

It could be a bearing or gear noise. Its hard to know without hearing it. Have you checked the fork pads?
