1961 Ford F-100 overheat issue

My truck runs a little hot when the motor is running but usually wont overheat. the problem is the temp steadily climbs to about 210- 220 after i shut it down, leaving me to sit and wait for it to cool before I can start it again. I replaced the thermostat and did a coolant flush but it only slightly improved the running temp and did nothing about the temp climb after shut down. i have a 1970 351 cleveland motor in my 1960 ford f100. what am i missing?

210/220 after shutdown shouldn't stop the motor from starting. check your ignition system for points being closed, it should have about 30 degrees dwell if points if electronic dont' worry about it. But check your carb for either flooding the truck or maybe time for a rebuild. alcohol in todays fuel is not a friend of the earlier carbs also if a point sytle dist check plate where points mount for being worn out andvac diaphragm pin for wear they did both and would cause hard starting.
