1953 f100 steering

i have a 1953 f100 the steering is oriinal and when i turn the steering wheel it doesnt get any traction...i have to turn the steering wheel half way to one side before the truck starts turning....any help

Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch what's moving in the steering linkage and what has to take up its slack before it starts to move. Otherwise have an inspection performed at a tire and alignment shop.

The steering gearbox could be out-of-adjustment too.
