My TPS went out and the only way I can get it new is I have to buy the whole throttle body for $200.00 and I do not want to pay that just for the sensor. But on the photo I loaded is this the sensor I need?

Hello,

Unfortunately, that is correct. The TPS is sold and serviced as part of the throttle body assembly. I have included the Original Equipment Manufacturer[OEM] parts numbers for you in the diagrams down below. Please go through them and get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes. That appears to be the throttle position sensor but unfortunately they are not servicable that way. You may be able to find a used one but if you take them apart they normally don't operate when going back together.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

In the diagrams down below I have included the removal and installation instructions for your vehicle's throttle body as well as the relearn procedure for the throttle position sensor when your done. These instructions are from the vehicle manufacturer, so you can be sure they will work. Please get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks again, but I’m not changing the whole throttle body. I’m just going to pop the sensor out on the side of the throttle body and put it on mine.. Will it be the same process to relearn it?

Will that cause a reduced engine power with that being ripped?

Hello again,

I don't think that is a broken vacuum line. Am I looking at the bottom or the top of the timing chain cover there?

Thanks,
Alex

It was not a hose it was a clamp. But when I started the car it was a loud hissing sound. will a broke vacuum hose cause a reduced engine power?

Yes. It can cause a low power, but it normally would also cause the engine to run rough.

What does engine torque delivered mean? How can this be fixed?

Hello again,

Engine torque is what you want out of an engine. Torque is a measurement of engine power. It is the rotational force that the engine produces. Have you ever floored the accelerator pedal on a sports car and been pinned back in the seat? The force that pins you back in the seat is torque. I hope that this helps.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? I know you were concerned about a broken vacuum hose earlier. I never got an answer, was it on top of the engine or the bottom? Here is a link below to a guide explaining how to find vacuum leaks:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

Please go through this guide and report back with what you find.

Thanks,
Alex

What happens after pulling the ECU fuse out of the car?

Hello again,

If you pull the ECU fuse out of your vehicle, it will die and as long as the fuse is out, it will not start either. This fuse is the protection device that protects your vehicle's ECU and if it is missing then there is an open in the ECU circuit and the ECU will not receive any voltage.

Thanks,
Alex

Okay. So if I pull it out and put it back in will it clear all the codes? Will I have to relearn anything once I put it back in?

The ECM has multiple power feeds so just pulling this fuse should not clear the codes. The only way to clear the codes is to disconnect the battery so the keep alive memory is erased due to no power. This normally takes about 15 minutes. Or use a scan tool to clear them, this is the only way to know for sure the codes are cleared.

Just reading through this post, we need to start a new one if we have progressed from the TPS. Only reason is, we need to keep them one topic per post so that others can find the answers to these questions if they have the same issue. Unfortunately they will not find an ECM answer under this heading.
