Code p0136, 02 sensor location needed

Good afternoon.

You have three sensors in your system.

The code is for bank one sensor 2. It is a downstream sensor. It is the only downstream sensor. You can get it at any parts store.

You will need either a O2 sensor socket or a 7/8 open end wrench to replace the sensor.

Okay great thanks. Update: I got the O2 sensor it is a Bosch about $50.00 from AutoZone put a fuel treatment in put $15.00 in and drove it about forty miles so the ECM would reset and I took a picture of the ob2 data seems the ob2 and EVAP has an X on both what does two "X'" mean? I am trying to get it ready for smog.

Okay, that means those monitors have not set. They should have check marks next to them when they are complete. When that happens, you can get it smoged.

So now after doing all that my check engine light came on again with a different code. Now it is a p0420 code. What does it mean and what should I do now?

Okay, that is a code for the catalytic converter. You need to replace the catalytic converter.

I was afraid of that. Which one do you recommend from Rock Auto? Is a VIN needed to properly find the correct one for my SUV? Is there a diagram and or pictures of where the catalytic converter that needs replacing is? How many catalytic converters exactly are on my SUV? Could a universal eBay catalytic converter be used to put on for it to pass smog?

Do not use a universal catalytic converter it will not work.

Call them and they will ask you for your information to be sure you get the correct one.

I suggest getting a Walker.

It is the bank one catalytic converter that is off the passenger side exhaust manifold.

It may have only one depending on the engine.

This is why you need to call them. There are three 4.0 v6 motors.

I called them and they said if all I am trying to do is get it to pass smog then sale it a universal should work wielded on. Is this true?

Yep, but it will last maybe a couple of months and then it will turn the light back on.

If that is what you want, then yes you will have to replace it again very shortly after your smog to get the light out.

As I told you before, yes, but it will not last and has no warranty. You will be having the same issue with the 420 again very soon.

Do you know the drive cycle of my suv for the obd2 reader to get it ready for smog?
